How to get removed from MIT Alert

There are currently three ways to get removed from MIT Alert.

  • If you still have an MIT Certificate, select the “MIT Community” signup button. When your information is displayed, select the “Remove me Completely from MIT Alert” checkbox. You may receive a warning confirmation. Click “OK.” Make sure to then select the “Save/Update” button to commit your change. You will be removed from MIT Alert within a few minutes.
  • If you do not have access to your MIT Certificate, then use the “Extended Community” signup button. You will be asked to enter an e-mail address. Enter the e-mail address you used when you signed up for MIT Alert. Press “Submit”. A link will then be sent to that e-mail address. Read your mail and select that link. You will then be brought to your personal update page. When your information is displayed, select the “Remove me Completely from MIT Alert” checkbox. You may receive a warning confirmation. Click “OK.” Make sure to then select the “Save/Update” button to commit your change. You will be removed from MIT Alert within a few minutes.
  • If you can do neither of the steps above, send an e-mail to mitalert@mit.edu and we will endeavor to help you out.

Coming Soon: Text based removal. You will be able to send a text message to us from your enrolled phone to have yourself removed.

Important: MIT will ONLY use the information you enter for life safety and public health emergencies. It cannot be accessed or used for purposes other than emergency communications.
